Illume policies

Order policy

Illume cards are personalized and made to order. Review the generated preview carefully before payment. If you notice a mistake after paying, contact support immediately; changes are possible only before production begins and are not guaranteed.

Privacy

We store the birth date, time, place, message, contact details, shipping address, generated artifacts, and fulfillment history needed to make and support the order. Orders are archived three years after the order date. Operational copies are then deleted or de-identified according to the backup rotation, except where law, fraud prevention, an active dispute, or a customer-requested preservation requires longer retention.

You may ask us to access, correct, export, or delete eligible personal information through the contact page. Payment-card numbers are handled by Stripe and are not stored by Illume.

Returns

Personalized items generally cannot be returned for preference changes. If an item arrives damaged or differs from the approved preview, contact support within 30 days with the order reference; eligibility for replacement or refund is reviewed before fulfillment action.

Shipping

We currently ship only to U.S. addresses. Shipping is calculated from the products, number of recipient addresses, and destination postal codes before payment. Production, dispatch, and tracking updates are shown in Order status when available; the checkout estimate is not a carrier guarantee.

Checkout does not currently calculate a separate sales-tax line. The total shown before the Stripe redirect is the submitted order total; any future tax behavior must be disclosed before payment.

Terms

By using Illume or placing an order, you agree to provide accurate information, use the service lawfully, and pay the total approved at Stripe checkout. Personalized designs remain subject to technical and production limits. Preview images are proofs, and natural variation in cotton paper, ink, screens, and letterpress impression is not a defect.

Illume may refuse unlawful, abusive, infringing, or unsafe content. Our liability is limited to the amount paid for the affected order to the fullest extent allowed by Texas law. These terms and the sections on orders, privacy, returns, and shipping together form the Illume terms of service. Questions may be sent through Contact.

Fair work and sustainability

Illume and Lone Star Observatories are committed to fair and equal employment. Employment decisions are made without unlawful discrimination, and we expect a workplace free from harassment, retaliation, forced labor, and child labor. We seek accessible recruitment, equitable pay for comparable work, and reasonable accommodations.

We support the direction of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals, especially responsible consumption and production, decent work, reduced inequalities, climate action, and protection of life on land. For Illume that means measuring material use, minimizing avoidable packaging and waste, choosing durable paper and responsible suppliers, and using our work to build public attention for night-sky conservation. This is a continuing commitment, not a claim that every target has already been achieved.
